Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis suggest the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
